Andy Warhol (1928 – 1987), was an American artist who became a central figure in the Pop Art movement.
Warhol not only identified the legends of his generation, but he had the skill to select the image that defined the moment that characterised the legend. Warhol used the silkscreen as the medium to express these critical moments; thus in the process, he legitimised the commercial silkscreen as an artist’s medium.
