Drawing on his Finnish ancestry, Alexander Gough has painted a series of works based on the snow covered landscapes of Lapland. The intense blue, refracted in the snow laden fir trees, transports the viewer into the mid winter twilight of the Artic Circle.

It is this painting that was the starting point for the series. Alex took the merest reference to the fir trees from this painting and developed the theme.
