Pablo Picasso
1881 – 1973
Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973) was born in Spain, yet was to establish his reputation in France, begining with his first exhibition at Galerie Vollard in Paris, 1901. Picasso was to become perhaps the greatest printmaker of the Twentieth Century, developing the established techniques of etching and lithography and taking commercial techniques such as the linocut and transforming them into fine art.
